Vaso Bakocevic: "Zelva will get his chance but I'll be looking for a knockout!"

Vaso “Psychopath” Bakocevic has quite an impressive fight score for a 23-year-old.  His 9 fights winning streak ended last October when he lost via TKO against current WFC Lightweight Champion Piotr Hallmann. Vaso currently holds 11-1-2 score that he seeks to improve in 2013.

Montenegro native is surely one of the most intriguing fighters on WFC roster. Nearly all his wins came via TKO or submission which proves that Vaso is not keen on letting judges decide his fate. Vaso has paved the way for fighters who are eager to succeed on the biggest stages. He debuted in WFC at “WFC – Challengers” in 2011 and later at “WFC – Challengers 2” proved that he is worth a shoot at WFC’s main events. He got the opportunity at WFC 16 where he won via TKO against Brinzan which earned him a title fight against Hallmann.

Quite an impressive story that can serve as a blueprint for every single amateur fighter eager to succeed.  With “WFC – Challengers 4” just around the corner (the event will be held on March 16th in Litija, Slovenia) Bakocevic is a man to talk to.

“My life revolves around training, training and once again – training. Training is my lifestyle, I’m enjoying it. I don’t want to be an ordinary fighter, I want to be a Champion! I do not drink, I do not go out to do drugs, I do not smoke, everything I do revolves around MMA,” Bakocevic opened up and shared his thoughts.

Bakocevic trains with Dragan Tesanovic, former Bellator fighter, Aleksandar Radosavljevic who he ranks as one of the best European fighters and Josif al Said.

His days are pretty much the same every week. ‘’I train 2 times a day and now I train maybe even up to 3 times since I would like to take quite a few pounds off for the match so it's extremely hard.”

Vaso was due to fight with Bojan “Zelva” Kosednar at WFC 17 but the match was cancelled due to Zelva’s injury prior to the fight. The duo made quite a show even before the match as they had to be split by WFC President Zlatko Mahic on a photo shooting that took place nearly a month before the fight.

Fans were eager to see the two inside the ring but the match had to be postponed. “I was supposed to fight for the belt against Zelva but 10 days before the match he had to cancel it because of the injury. I got Hallmann instead of him and I was a bit thrown because I had to change the tactics and everything in the last minute but hey, that’s sport.”

“Considering that it was a match for the belt I had taken it very seriously and I was determined to hurt Zelva,’’ stated Bakocevic. He added that he means nothing personal but Kosednar stands in his way of becoming a Champion.

“Zelva wait for your chance, get ready, I hope you will not get hurt this time and everything will be ok. Let’s enter the ring and may the better man win. It’s only matter of time when the two of us fight but it will happen for sure! I want to knock you out!” Vaso once again proved to be outspoken and direct.

What do you think the outcome of Bakocevic – Kosednar fight would be? Or would you rather see Vaso in the ring against Hallmann?
