Mahteenko: ''It's my time to shine!''

Jevgeniy Mahteenko conquered the Olympus on the 16th June in Krizanke, Ljubljana. He became the new undisputed WFC welterweight champion when he defeated Simone Tessari from Italy.

A bad streak for Tessari continued at WFC as this was his third straight loss after he went on a 7-0 run in his first seven professional fights. On the other hand it was Mahteenko's third straight victory that put him 10-5-0.

Ukrainian that train and lives in Czech Republic promised a memorable fight between the two and he kept his word. It was a passionate clash from the start. Tessari feels more comfortable on the ground, while Mahteenko is quite the opposite. Tessari had a few takedown attempts but it was all Mahteenko that night.

"I fight on the stance, that is who I am as a fighter,'' stated Mahteenko prior to the fight. He held tight to his game plan and succeeded. It took him only two minutes to knockout Tessari and claim his first WFC title.

''It was the best day in my life,'' are words from the man himself that best describe his feelings after the precious victory. He preformed a victory dance in the ring and raised his hands up high after referee Grant Waterman proclaimed him the winner.

''My wish came true and now I'm not letting the belt slip out of my hands! Whoever you'll bring me I'll crush him. It's my time to shine!''

Mahteenko was truly passionate after the fight and looked determined that he'll be the new ruler for a long time. We'll just have to wait and see what the future brings. From now on Mahteenko is the man to beat in the welterweight division.
