Chorchyp: ‘WFC 17 Will Be A Great Show, Don’t Miss It’

WFC 17: ‘Olimp Live & Fight’ will see the return of Slovenian favourite Denis ‘Chorchyp’ Porcic. The high-kicking K-1 fighter, who doubles up as a hip-hop artist, has bounced back from a tough 2012, and is optimistic heading into Sunday’s event.

“My shoulder went out of its joint in the fight with Uros Velicevic and I couldn’t move it,” revealed Denis. “I’ve now fully recuperated from my injury. Doctors said that I would need 2-3 months to go back to training and that I shouldn’t fight. However, I’m friends with the best physiotherapists, and after a month and a half I could do all exercises, push-ups, punches, fitness exercises; of course with light weights. In three months I was back in top condition. It’s been a hard, but good, experience for me. I believe that everything happens for a reason.”

Indeed, ‘Chorchyp’ feels that he and Velicevic will settle the score once and for all down the line, although he’s currently focused on his upcoming opponent. The heavyweight stated,

“Uros and I didn’t show all our fighting skills in the last fight, so we probably both want the rematch. I respect Uros as a person and fighter, but right now I’m concentrating on my next fight.”

In Porcic’s line of sight this weekend will be Aleksandar Rakic, a young, confident Austrian, who also competes in MMA; his last two mixed martial arts bouts ending with him as the victor by head kick knockout.

“He’s young, but experienced,” analysed Denis on his next foe. “I’ve seen his fights and I like his technique. He’s taller than me, as all my opponents before him have been. I need to be careful. I think that this will be good fight and WFC fans will see some good moves from both sides.”

‘Chorchyp’ has prepared in his usual way for this contest, and feels that he will do well if he brings his gym form to the Hala Tivoli. He said,

“My conditioning training remained similar to before. As for fight training, I have a new sparring partner who’s become a good friend of mine, and we also do a lot of mental training together including meditation and relaxation. I will do my best to bring my training into the ring.

“If I can do that, then I'll be more than happy, win or lose. Of course, I want to win, but it’s more important how you fight. What I do know is that WFC 17 is going to be a great show, and no one should miss it. I would like to say to my fans to stay with me, and respect!”
