Drmonjic: ''I wanted to knock him out!''

Marko Drmonjic had been out of professional fighting for quite some time, but he returned to the ring at the end of last year at some minor event. He had to test himself before he re-entered the big leagues and returned to the WFC.

"I was a bit nervous. I wanted to return as a winner and on top of that with a good fight not a dull one.'' He sure did stick to his promise as his comeback fight at WFC 18 was everything but dull. He faced much taller Italian, Claudio Conti, who got his last win at the Challengers 4 in March.

Conti tried to take the initiative from the start but failed in his attempt. He got carried away and Marko took advantage of the opportunity. He got a hold of his neck and ended the fight prematurely via rear naked choke.

''He failed at the takedown attempt, I caught him in the choke and that was it. The opportunity offered itself, I wanted to knock him out!''

Marko was truly in top shape for the event as he made the weight even weeks before the event. ''My coach Ivan prepared me really well so I came to 84 kg during workouts without sacrifice and dehydration before the event.''

Drmonjic is back and determined that now he's here to stay. It looks like that WFC's middleweight division just got a new contender.
