Bakocevic: "I want that belt!"

Vaso Bakocevic was set to fight Bojan Kosednar at WFC 17 but fight was cancelled because of Kosednar’s injury. The two were at full force even prior to the fight but just a couple of days before the event everything fell apart. Zelva was unfit to fight and Bakocevic needed a new opponent.

WFC President, Zlatko Mahic, had a few names in his sleeve but many were surprised when he decided for Piotr Hallmann, 25-year-old from Poland. Hallmann hasn’t fought in WFC till that date but he had a good score. Holding a professional record of 10 wins and only 1 loss he was a great match for Bakocevic. And just like Vaso, Hallmann was not accustomed to have his fights decided by referees decision.

Vaso stayed true to himself as he got into a confrontation with Hallmann when the two met at weigh-in. The audience was soothed as it looked like they were still getting a great fight. They were not mistaken. It was probably fight of the night at WFC 17 as the two battled for two rounds until referee Grant Waterman stopped the fight.

But it was not fans favorite Bakocevic who won. Piotr Hallmann took the belt after the fight was stopped because of nasty cuts on the face of Bakocevic. Vaso looked displeased with the decision but fighters well-being comes first. The whole arena could see that Bakocevic was disappointed with the outcome, so it is not surprising what first came out of his mouth when he was asked about his plans for the future.

Bakocevic vs. Hallman at WFC 17: Olimp Live&Fight

“At WFC 18 I hope I’ll get a rematch with Hallman, I want to finish what we started, I think that the audience wants to see this fight and I promise that this time it will be even better,” stated Bakocevic.

“I think the fight against Hallmann would bring audience to their feet! Regarding the outcome of the match - I am not backing down no matter what.”

Bakocevic told us that he does not like to choose his opponents and that he is going to fight with anyone, anytime. “But my wish is a rematch with Hallmann and hopefully I'll get it. I had lost the last fight because of the doctor’s stoppage and I have unfinished business to attend to.”

“Plans are now even bigger, I never give up, and this is only my second defeat of his career. I want the opportunity to rectify that and I want it now! After my first defeat against Mahteenko I returned twice as better and stronger and went on a 10 fight winning streak,” Bakocevic sounded very determined.

“My plan is to win WFC belt and I will not stop until I do. I can’t say that I lost unexpectedly, no fight is easy, especially not against a fighter who has 10-1 score but I can’t get over the fact that the fight was stopped!”

“I think that Hallmann is a great fighter but he was a bit lucky to pull out of an armbar and surviving a knockdown. I may have lost that battle but the war is not over yet! Piotr, get ready, I’m coming after you!”

Bakocevic truly is a warrior we got to give him that. Looks like 2013 is going to be a hell of a year.
